Our Mission
Our Mission in a Nutshell
The Pacific Northwest Debate Society’s (PNDS) sole purpose is to create an affordable, supportive, and educational environment for students. We value students' voices and are dedicated to giving them a powerful platform for expression. Effective implementation of these objectives requires attention to two vital aspects: community and accessibility.
Community
PNDS works to connect several debate clubs and teams across BC and beyond, facilitating a great platform to exchange brilliant ideas. Students who join the society are provided with numerous opportunities to train, compete, and connect with their peers across the area. This includes camps, tournaments, fundraiser events, etc.
Accessibility
Since the surge in popularity for debate, accessibility has become an increasingly concerning issue. An average in-person debate tournament may cost thousands of dollars, and debate tuition costs can be as high as $80/hr. PNDS strives to make the debate community inclusive by offering affordable resources that equip aspiring debaters with the skills they need. Additionally, all profits will proceed toward charitable causes.
